Het contact met de leerlingen en de collega's staat hierbij centraal.
Denk bij deze werkzaamheden bijvoorbeeld aan het ontvangen van de leerlingen bij de schoolpoort, het surveilleren tijdens pauzes, het waarnemen bij lesuitval, het ondersteunen bij de praktijkvakken en surveilleren bij toetsen.
Samen met je collega's zorg je voor rust, overzicht en orde in onze school.

Job Description

The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) is seeking a Data Scientist who is passionate about applying advanced data methods to real-world challenges faced by family-owned businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This role combines data-driven research and impactful analytics with a teaching component (0.2 FTE) focused on data literacy and digital transformation in entrepreneurial contexts.

 

The ideal candidate bridges the gap between data science and business practice—translating complex data into actionable insights for SMEs, while contributing to education and knowledge development in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation.

 

Purpose of the Role
This role strengthens CEI’s capacity to develop and apply data-driven solutions for the specific needs of family firms and SMEs. You will contribute to research projects that leverage data analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence to better understand the behaviors, challenges, and success factors in these business contexts.

 

In addition, you will dedicate part of your time (0.2 FTE) to teaching and mentoring students—fostering critical thinking, digital skills, and a data-savvy mindset in future entrepreneurs and business professionals.

 

Core Activities

Research and Data Science

• Design and implement data-driven research projects focused on SMEs and family businesses (e.g., succession patterns, innovation readiness, financial health, or talent retention).
• Apply advanced analytics (e.g., predictive modelling, clustering, natural language processing, or network analysis) to support practice-based insights.
• Collaborate with researchers, entrepreneurs, and external stakeholders to co-create tools and dashboards tailored to the SME sector.

 

Data Infrastructure and Visualisation

• Develop or support the implementation of interactive dashboards and data platforms (e.g., using Power BI, Python, R, or Tableau).
• Ensure data quality, reproducibility, and responsible data practices in alignment with ethical and legal standards (e.g., GDPR).

 

Teaching and Student Engagement (0.2 FTE)

• Teach in entrepreneurship- and innovation-related programs with a focus on data literacy, digital decision-making, and applied analytics.
• Supervise student projects or theses that involve data collection and analysis within SME or family business contexts.
• Inspire students to use data as a driver for innovation and entrepreneurial impact.

 

Requirements
Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Business Analytics, Econometrics, Information Management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in data analysis, modelling, and visualisation, preferably in an applied setting.
• Affinity with family businesses and/or SMEs—either through research, consultancy, or business collaboration.
• Teaching experience and/or interest in contributing to higher education in an applied university setting.

 

Skills and Competencies:

• Technically skilled in tools such as Python, R, SQL, LLM, and/or dashboarding platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Able to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong communicator, collaborator, and bridge-builder between disciplines.
• Familiar with or open to learning about practice-based research methods and SME dynamics.
• Professional proficiency in English; Dutch is a strong asset (minimum B2 level)

What we offer
As Data Scientist at School of Business and Economics, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

• Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 9 according to UFO profile Education-/Research Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3537,00 and €4860,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1.0 FTE. If proven suitable, the employment contract can be extended, depending on availability of budget.

As a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship, you will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI). You will hold a hybrid position where you teach and inspire students, coach start-up teams, and support ongoing research initiatives related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
This role is ideal for a practitioner or educator who thrives at the crossroads of education, entrepreneurship, and research, and who finds energy in working closely with students, entrepreneurs, and academic colleagues.

Purpose of the Role
The Lecturer in Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation within the institution. You will deliver engaging educational content on entrepreneurship and business development, coach students and alumni who are launching ventures, and contribute to practice-based research projects aligned with SME innovation and transformation.
You act as a mentor, facilitator, and role model for entrepreneurial students and early-stage entrepreneurs, offering practical insights and constructive guidance. At the same time, you contribute to the CEI’s research programs through your knowledge, experience, and applied mindset.

Core Activities

1.    Education and Didactics

• Teach entrepreneurship-related courses on topics such as business modelling, start-up development, and entrepreneurial skills.
• Actively contribute to curriculum development, project-based learning, and blended education initiatives.
• Supervise students during internships, entrepreneurial projects, and graduation tracks.

2.    Coaching and Start-up Support

• Mentor and coach student and alumni start-ups within incubator or accelerator programs.
• Advise on business validation, funding, team development, market strategy, and scaling.
• Strengthen ties between the CEI and the regional entrepreneurship ecosystem.

3.    Research and Practice-Based Innovation

• Support ongoing research projects with practical expertise and connections to the field.
• Identify relevant questions and opportunities from the entrepreneurial ecosystem that can feed into research.
• Participate in research groups, workshops, events, and contribute to publications where relevant.

 

Requirements
Education and Experience:

• A completed university degree (master’s), preferably in Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Economics, or a related field.
• Practical experience as an entrepreneur, start-up coach, business developer, or innovation manager.
• Teaching experience (e.g., in higher professional education) is a strong asset.
• Affinity with the SME/start-up environment and a good understanding of entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Skills and Competencies:

• Didactically strong with the ability to engage and inspire students.
• Entrepreneurial, energetic, and collaborative in mindset.
• Skilled coach and mentor with a supportive yet critical eye.
• Strong communicator in both Dutch (minimum B2 level) and English.

VISTA college is dé opleider van het Zuiden met verschillende locaties in Zuid-Limburg. Onze opleidingen en cursussen bieden jongeren en volwassenen toekomstperspectief. Binnen de opleiding Maatschappelijke Zorg is vacatureruimte ontstaan voor een Docent(en) LB Zorg voor 1,6 fte.
Het betreft een tijdelijke functie voor het schooljaar 2025-2026. De standplaats is Sittard/Maastricht/Heerlen.

Over de opleiding
De opleiding Maatschappelijke zorg heeft een nominale duur van 3 jaar en wordt aangeboden op niveau 3 en 4. Naast onderwijs in de BOL-variant, bieden wij ook de volgende varianten aan: BBL, FLEX+ en LLO.

De kern van de opleiding richt zich op het voorbereiden van studenten om als (persoonlijk) begeleider te functioneren binnen diverse zorg- en welzijnssectoren, waaronder de ouderenzorg, gehandicaptenzorg en verslavingszorg. Deze driejarige opleiding legt een stevige basis voor de ontwikkeling van de benodigde vaardigheden en kennis die essentieel zijn voor het bieden van kwalitatieve ondersteuning en zorg aan verschillende doelgroepen.

Naast beroepsgerichte vakken omvat de opleiding ook algemeen vormende vakken zoals Nederlands, Engels, rekenen en burgerschap. Daarnaast lopen studenten jaarlijks stage binnen de beroepscontext.

Over de functie
We zoeken voor onze locaties docenten die breed inzetbaar en flexibel zijn, met een specialisatie op het vlak van zorgvaardigheden. Als docent ben je niet alleen didactisch bekwaam maar ben je ook sterk pedagogisch onderlegd. Naast de lessen weet jij wat er speelt in het werkveld, en kun jij vanuit het mentoraat studenten begeleiden op school en in de praktijk.

Wat ga je doen?

• Het geven van lessen in anatomie, fysiologie en pathologie;
• Het geven van SKILLS lessen op het gebied van ADL;
• Het geven van beroepsgerichte lessen;
• Het verzorgen van het mentoraat en begeleiden van studenten inclusief BPV bezoeken;
• Het integreren van de praktijk in het onderwijs;
• Het leveren van een bijdrage aan de doorontwikkeling van onze opleiding;
• Het afnemen en beoordelen van toetsen en examens;
• Het begeleiden van studenten met hun praktijkopdrachten.

Wat verwachten we van jou?

• Je bent een 2e graads bevoegd docent of je bent bezig met de afronding van je opleiding óf je hebt je HBO-opleiding afgerond én beschikt over de didactische bevoegdheid om als docent te werken in het MBO of bent bereid om deze (les)bevoegdheid te behalen;
• Je bent vakinhoudelijk competent. Je hebt bij voorkeur een achtergrond als verpleegkundige;
• Je bent ontwikkelingsgericht, flexibel en hebt een proactieve en ondernemende houding. Je bent iemand met verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel, goede communicatieve vaardigheden en doorzettingsvermogen;
• Je bent inzetbaar op alle VISTA-locaties en in staat een verbindende rol te spelen binnen het team;
• Je vindt het uitdagend om studenten te begeleiden met een complexere hulpvraag.
